Using visa gift card online?

I just bought a $200 visa Gift card today to shop online at hottopic.com. i typed in my card number and expiration and card type under the credit card option. they also ask for the name on the card... not sure what to put there. when i hit submit it says "Credit Card authorization failed. Please enter correct credit card information". when i bought the card the cashier said my card is activated upon purchasing it. i read the instructions for the visa and it said to use it as a credit card and not a visa.. so i guess im asking, what should i put under the name on the credit card? or something.. im very confused.
