What make Israel a developed country ?

I read that Israel has very poor national resources, lack of political freedom, always have conflicts with the Arab League and Palestine. But I also read that Israel is a developed country with very high income per capita, developed industries, advanced technology (space, solar energy, diamond...) and have long life expectancy (which is surprising for the holder of Jerusalem). So why is Israel that developed, and what events could have led it ? I appreciate any throughout answer and not into Israeli-Palestinian conflict, like "These Jews know nothing about morals, killing the Palestine just for some old land".
