How was Fran drescher allowed to play roles in o films by Peter Jacobson (her husband at that time) ?

I know Fran Drescher and Peter Jacobson were a couple of girlfriend and boyfriend since she was 15 and she got married to Peter at 21.Finally they got divorced in 1999,but she played roles in ographic films previously .How did he let her to do that ?
