How to fix zune problems?

I got the original zune last year for christmas and the battery life is sucky. I can listen to song for a long time if i keep listening to them but if i listen to music for like 15 minutes then turn it off and come back to it it says that it is fully battery still and then after listening to like one song it dies. Any help?
